The Williams Lake Fire Department will be holding the annual Boot Drive event.
Lieutenant of the Williams Lake Fire Department, Trevor Schick, shares with us what this 60-year fundraising event is about.
“We send our firefighters out to different business locations around town. Business owners are gracious enough to grant us the space over the weekend. Â Firefighters will be standing out front with signage information about muscular dystrophy and large yellow boots that you can’t miss.”
Schick adds that firefighters from the Wildwood Fire Department will also be on hand.
“The Wildwood Fire Department over the years has come in and helped us man all the positions; with our 43 members, we’re stretched a little thin.”
Schick says firefighters will taking part in a dunk tank tonight at the Williams Lake Walmart.
“The dunk tank is a new acquisition of the fire department…We picked it up in the last couple of months…We’re going to have it set up tonight.”
The Boot Drive will also be having a dunk tank tomorrow night at Save on Foods in Williams Lake.
Schick, says if you are unable to be in town and support the Boot Drive there are ways you can still help.
“You can donate to muscular dystrophy online and we always accept donations at the fire hall…So if you miss us at the Boots, you can always drop something off with the folks at the fire hall during the day.”
The Boot Drive wraps up in Williams Lake on Sunday.
