A business owner’s request to allow the parking signage to be changed from 7 am to 6 am was unanimously denied by Williams Lake City Council Tuesday evening.
Jason Ryll, City Councillor and also a member of the Public Works Committee says he does not believe that the decision is unfriendly towards businesses.
“It’s my understanding that the landlord as well as our perspective on City Council that everyone is working with the business as much as we can possibly do.”
“It seems strange that with parking half a block away from the facility that for us to make a change which would severely affect our maintenance for the downtown area, it just didn’t make any sense.”
Ryll adds that the City had already changed the hours of available downtown to accommodate different businesses.
“This is an additional request on top of what changes we’ve already made.”
Anne Schonke, the owner of Keep Moving Fitness (DBA Curves on Oliver Street), had made the request to change the parking restrictions sign in front of 369 Oliver Street to better suit her client’s needs and also employees sense of security and safety.
