Reports from Quesnel Result in Williams Lake RCMP Recovering Stolen Vehicles, Equipment

Three suspects were taken into police custody after Williams Lake RCMP recovered two vehicles and one piece of machinery following three separate reports Tuesday from Quesnel RCMP.

At 12:38 PM, Williams Lake RCMP received a report that a stolen car was located on Midnight Drive. Earlier in the day a black Saturn sedan had been reported stolen out of Quesnel.

“After an investigation led by General Duty members, a 27 year old male was arrested and taken into police custody, with the car keys, “ said a news release.

“The investigation in on going despite lack of police cooperation from the registered owner.”

At 1:04 PM, Quesnel RCMP advised the Williams Lake RCMP that a Chevrolet pickup truck was travelling south on Highway 97 with a piece of stolen machinery. The owner of the stolen welder happened to be travelling south on the highway when the piece of equipment was spotted in the back of a pickup truck.

A 28 year old male from Alberta was arrested and the welder, valued at $10,000, was recovered by General Duty members.

Charges of theft over $5000 and possession of stolen property over $5000 are being recommended.

At 4:39 PM, Quesnel RCMP reported that a silver and red Ford F250 had been stolen within the past 10 minutes.

Members of the General Investigations Section (GIS) of the Williams Lake RCMP spotted the vehicle travelling southbound on Highway 97.

Members followed the stolen vehicle to the Race Trac Gas station in Wildwood where a 30 year old male was taken into custody after leading police on a short foot chase.

“A collaborative effort by GIS and General Duty resulted in the successful apprehension of the male, while the assistance of police dog Grimm resulted in the recovery of dropped articles during the chase,” stated the release.

Charges of Breach of Recognizance, Possession of Stolen Property Under $5000 and Flight from Peace Officer are being recommend.

The Williams Lake RCMP continue to work in close partnership with neighbouring RCMP, resulting in the apprehension of two multijurisdictional offenders,” said Williams Lake RCMP Inspector Jeff Pelley.

“Williams Lake RCMP remain committed to cracking down on stolen vehicles and break-in to vehicles
