An anonymous donor has once again come forward to challenge North Cariboo residents to raise 50 thousand dollars for the Quesnel Community Foundation.
That money goes into an endowment fund that has now topped 2.4 million dollars and then the revenue generated from that goes back into the community in the form of grants for various organizations.
Mary Sjostrom is the new President of the Foundation…
“This year alone we were able to give out 67 thousand dollars in grants to 18 various projects. This is in our community, this is the regional district and the City of Quesnel, as well as 7 thousand dollars in bursaries and scholarships, so that’s pretty significant.”
Sjostrom says they have until December 10th to match the 50 thousand dollars…
“There is a community report, which we produce every year, which will be coming out with a form on the back or you can go to our website of the Quesnel Community Foundation, at www.quesnelfoundation.ca , we have since update it so it is easy to follow around, or if you are unable to do that you can send an e-mail to [email protected] or you can call our coordinator Anna Rankin at 747-3063 or you can give myself a call Mary Sjostorm at 747-2924. Anything 25 dollars and over does receive a tax receipt.”
The Foundation started out as a legacy from the 2000 BC Winter Games that were held in Quesnel and the endowment has now grown to more than 2.4 million dollars.
