Public Inquest To Be Held Into Death of Quesnel Man

The BC Coroners Service will hold a public inquest into the death of a Quesnel man who died after falling out of an ambulance.

36-year old Ebony Aaron Wood was involved in a motor vehicle accident last November and he reportedly left the vehicle and walked a short distance before requesting that a neighbour call 9-1-1.

RCMP attended and Wood was subsequently placed in the back of a police cruiser when he told the officer that he was experiencing chest and shoulder pain.

That’s when BC Ambulance Service was called.

Wood, while en route to hospital, then fell out of the ambulance and suffered a head injury and died two days later.

The public inquest will take place on November 14th at Quesnel Court Services.

Andy Watson is with the BC Coroners Service…

“Donita Kuzma will be the presiding Coroner, she’s the regional Coroner based in Prince George, so she will oversee the inquest and the jury that will form will hear evidence from witnesses under oath to determine the facts that surround this death.”

Watson says the purpose is not to find fault…

“The jury will then have an opportunity to make recommendations based on the information and the end goal of anything that the coroner’s services does is to investigate to prevent future deaths under similar circumstances, so hopefully the information that is presented will then create answers and create recommendations.”

Any recommendations will be made public following this inquest.
