Latest On Homicide Investigation In Quesnel

Charges have not yet been laid in connection with a homicide investigation in Quesnel.

Two people were arrested following an alleged assault on a male and a female in the 800 block of Front Street on Sunday.

The female was taken to hospital and was pronounced deceased the next day.

RCMP from E-division in Surrey say the suspects are expected to appear in court early in the new year.

Meanwhile, the police investigation continues.

A separate investigation is also underway by the Independent Investigations Office as the woman who died in hospital was first arrested by Quesnel RCMP for breaching a court imposed condition.

She was transported to the local detachment before being examined by Emergency Health Services and then being transported to G.R. Baker Hospital.

The Independent Investigations Office, as per protocol, is looking into whether the actions of police had anything to do with the woman’s death.

Her name has not been released.
