New Community On Evacuation Alert

Kluskus residents are now on evacuation alert because of a wildfire burning about 5 kilometres southwest of that community.

The BC Wildfire Service lists that fire at about 87-hundred hectares and zero percent contained at this point.

The wildfires burning near Quesnel did not experience any growth over the weekend.

Crews continue to make progress on the West Fraser Road complex of fires, about 25 kilometres northeast of Quesnel.

It remains at 120 hectares.

The Green Mountain fire, that has Kersley residents on evacuation alert, remains at 520 hectares.

Crews are working to maintain an existing guard with support from aircraft.

The only fire in the North Cariboo region that saw substantial growth yesterday was the Tautri complex.

It is now estimated at around 40 thousand hectares, up from 25 yesterday, although the BC Wildfire Service says there is a lot of smoke from that fire making it difficult to accurately say how big it is.

That fire is wet of Quesnel and about 80 kilometres northwest of Williams Lake.
