The teacher’s strike, another tough budget and another lost year on the topic of the replacement of Quesnel Junior School.
Those three issues topped a busy 2014 according to the Chair of Quesnel’s Board of Education.
Tony Goulet says QJS will be a topic of discussion with MLA Coralee Oakes early in the new year.
Oakes recently said that the Board has to re-submit an application and updated plan for replacement of the school to get back onto a priority list for the government, something Goulet says costs them money.
“That facility process does cost us money everytime we fill out that application it costs us between $10,000 to $15,000 to tell them that we need a new school.”
“We need to get the message across that we need a new school and we need to go through the facility process and come up with something.”
Goulet says the facilities review will likely be the big topic in local education in 2015.
