Cobb: "It’s time to think and talk how we can make Williams Lake even better"

Cobb, who addressed a large crowd of community members yesterday evening, including outgoing Councillors, and Mayor Kerry Cook, says he is already working to see that City Council meetings are broadcast live.

“I don’t know what’ happened in the last few years, where Cable 10 has pre-broadcast, or taped it and put it on 2 or 3 days later.”

“I would like people to be aware today, what’s happening and happening in their community. Not a week from now.”

Cobb, also says he is looking forward to re-establishing volunteer committees and is calling upon City Councillors to share what committees would be of importance to them before the new year.

“To engage our community, we have to have the input from them.”

“In the past, some of these committees have gone astray and they haven’t been asked for their input. We need the input from our community, if we’re to govern and to give people what they want, we have to be able to listen to them and hear what they want to say.”

Joining Cobb for a 4-year term after repeating the Oath of Allegiance, are Councillors Ivan Bonnell, Scott Nelson, Jason Ryll, Craig Smith, Laurie Walters, and Sue Zacharias.

The next City Council meeting in Williams Lake before the new year is scheduled to take place on Dec. 16.
