No Jail Time For Cariboo Man Charged With Arson

An Anaham man, charged in connection with a suspicious fire on the reserve, has been sentenced in Provincial Court.

28-year old Lionel Jordan Stump received a 12-month conditional sentence and 12 months probation.

Alexis Creek RCMP responded to a report of a break-in in progress at a residence on the reserve back in August of last year.

Police say two officers were conducting a search of the residence when a suspect exited the door and confronted them.

RCMP say he was arrested after a brief altercation and that no one was hurt.

A fire was then discovered in the residence and the local fire department was called in to put it out.

Stump was charged with Break and Enter, Mischief, Arson Causing Damage to Property and Assaulting a Police Officer.
