New Arena In Quesnel Starting To Take Shape

Concrete, concrete and more concrete.

That sums up construction of the new arena, the West Fraser Centre, in Quesnel right now.

Jeff Norburn, the Director of Community Services, says while there will be a steel structured roof with some architectural wood accents the majority of the building is concrete.

“not just the concrete foundations but much of the building, structural walls, floors, are all concrete and of course the arena slab itself is concrete so there is a lot of concrete in the building and that has been the focus of the work for these first few months.”

Norburn says a lot of the work has been done by local contractors.

He says the total was nearing 875 thousand dollars by the end of last month.

Norburn says the project remains on budget and on schedule to open in September of 2017.
