Quesnel Cowboy Cleans Up In Bella Coola Rodeo

Results are in from the annual BC Rodeo Association event in Bella Coola over the long weekend.

Quesnel’s Brayden Roch enjoyed himself winning the Tie Down Roping on both days.

His time on Saturday was 12 and 9.

Roch and his partner Ryan Hume from Williams Lake also won the Team Roping on Sunday with a 6 and 4.

All tolled Roch won more than 15-hundred and 40 dollars.

Allison Everett from 150 Mile won the Breakaway Roping on Saturday and was 2nd on Sunday for 737 dollars.

Denise Swampy, from Williams Lake, won on day two.

Taylor Cherry from Quesnel captured the Ladies Barrel Racing on Saturday and was the runner-up on Sunday.

And Cliff Schuk from Tatla Lake was the Saddle Bronc champion on day one for 637 dollars.

Looking at the Junior events…Quesnel’s Dyson Leneve won the Junior Breakaway Roping on both days, Williams Lake’s Breana Billy won the Barrels on Saturday adn Quesnel’s Alexis Glassford took top spot on Sunday and Cordell Pinchbeck from the Lake City won the Steer Riding on day one.

Northern Health advises Quesnel and area residents that the emergency room at G.R. Baker Memorial Hospital will be closed from 6:00 p.m. Friday, July 18, until 8:00 a.m. Saturday, July 19.

The KIJHL has announced the regular schedule and home openers for the 2025/2026 season. The regular season starts on September 19, and each team will compete in 44 games during the regular season, which concludes on February 28, 2026.

Accident on Highway 97 On Ramp Closed Section Briefly

A single vehicle merging onto Highway 97 Northbound in Quesnel, hit a traffic pole. Police and the Quesnel Volunteer Fire Department closed the ramp down as the accident was assessed. Only the driver of the vehicle was taken to the hospital with suspected minor injuires.
