Rain and snow offered some reprieve to two of B.C’s largest wildfires.
The Peace River Regional District has now rescinded the Evacuation Orders for both the Beatton Airport Road and Siphon Creek fires and have revised the Evacuation Alert areas.
The Beatton fire northwest of Fort St John is estimated at 15,000 hectares with the Siphon Creek fire northeast of Fort St John covering close to 29,000 hectares in B.C and 12,000 hectares in Alberta.
The BC Wildfire Service has already seen 3 times more fires and 7 times the damage this year compared to the 10-year average.
Ten of the blazes are currently being investigated for arson.
