Just like Summer quickly coming to an end, so to is another edition of Performances in the Park in Williams Lake.
Community Arts Council of Williams Lake and Program Director,Venta Rutkauskas, said they were so happy with the turn out and the quality of the talent that they had this Summer.
“It’s just another one for the books. We’re really proud of everything that came together and so grateful for all the community support as well as the business and organizational support we have in sponsorship and of course the City and Cariboo Regional District.”
Rutkauskas noted that felt really good to show up to Boitanio Park, have the crowds come out and have something really wonderful to showcase every week.
“We have a really nice mix of local talent and an influx of interesting and new acts from different parts of the Province. We had everything from Reggae to Indigenous Languages to Funk and Soul and we’re closing out tonight (Thursday) with Pow Wow Drums and Dancers as well as an amazing act from outside of Quesnel.”
Rutkauskas was also pleased with the local youth talent that took to the stage.
“We had 2 youth groups from Williams Lake last week, Glass Motel and KL, both formed out of Lake City Secondary. They have such a healthy band program in the schools so we had 2 quite different acts. One was more Rock and Indie oriented while the other was doing a lot of Jazz and Pop Standards with that band to them. They were incredible, they were great!”
Tonight’s (August 21) Performances in the Park gets going at 6 in Boitanio Park in Williams Lake.
