Ministry of Environment looking for public input into BC Parks permit applications

Are you a BC Parks user? Would you like to know more about what’s going on in your local parks?

The Ministry of environment is seeking public input into a new draft policy. The policy would see all park use applications and their related decisions posted online. This would include commercial and land use applications, as well as research activities, for parks and protected areas.

Currently, local newspaper advertisements are the only way the Ministry notifies local people about park use permits.

The Ministry says it’s trying to make the permit application more transparent and easier to understand. The new policy will also create online notifications when public input into a permit application is being sought.

You can review the Ministry’s draft policy here. Any input can be submitted here.

The policy will be open for feedback until June 22, 2016.
