Gas Theft at Williams Lake Water Service Business

A local water company employee found the business’s parking lot flooded with a sea of gasoline this morning.

The Cool Clear Water company’s owner, Cathy Rosner, says when her employee arrived for their morning shift, gasoline from one of their Ford trucks had been stolen.

“Our 2014 Ford Box Truck’s gas tank was drilled,” Rosner says. “It was a very clean cut, and I think the gas got away from whoever was stealing it. Maybe they got a little, but not very much, because it’s all in my parking lot.”

There has been an increasing crime rate in Williams Lake, and this instance is one the several that happen daily; however, Rosner says it’s been a “few years” since the company has experienced gas theft. Cool Clear Water has had its occasional break–in, and their vans have been vandalized.

The water service company supplies potable and drinking water to mines, such as Gibraltar Mine and Mount Poly. It also delivers water to places in School District 27, and into 100 Mile House, outside of its deliveries to local small businesses and residents.

With one truck down, Rosner says the business will be slowed down with more labour needed while the truck is being repaired.

“There is going to be more labour, and more costs, and more cost of fuel. We’ll just have to adjust, if one load is too big for our vans, we take a secondary trip instead of all at once. We’ll get through it, we always do, and we’ve dealt with worse.”

Rosner says she has filed a police report, and the RCMP did attend the location. She encourages everyone of the Lake City to driving along Mackenzie to be watchful and “look out for each other.”
