Stage set for child abduction trial in Quesnel

A trial date has been confirmed for a Quesnel man who is accused of abducting a 10-year old boy.

46-year old Jason Penner is due back in Supreme Court on the 27th of this month.

A Pre-trial conference was held yesterday. (Thursday)

Penner is charged with one count each of abduction of a person under 14 and abduction of a person under 16.

Quesnel RCMP received a report of a missing boy back in July of 2022.

Police said he was last seen riding his bike along Avery Avenue in West Quesnel at around 3-30 in the afternoon, and that they were told that he was seen in the company of an adult male who was also on a bicycle.

RCMP say they were able to identify the man and locate the boy safe the following morning at the mane’s residence.
