New MLA Opens Office, Says He’s ‘Ready to get Started’

Newly elected Prince George — North Cariboo MLA Sheldon Clare held a small ceremony to mark the opening of his new office in Quesnel.

Located on the second floor of Quesnel’s City Hall, the office has been the main office for the last handful of North Cariboo MLAs. Clare greeted and met with his constituents with refreshments, a good charcuterie spread, and a positive outlook on what could be done in the next few years.

“It’s great to be back at work and starting to be able to help people,” Clare says. “We’ve already been getting lots of calls. It’s going well. We’ve got a good staff, and all of us are looking forward to helping the people of North Cariboo.”

Clare says he feels strongly about the elected opposition and Conservative caucus’ chances of putting pressure in the “areas that truly matter and are affecting everyone equally” in legislation and government.

When asked what have been the biggest concerns addressed to Clare and his staff, the MLA answered quickly.

“Healthcare, crime, and infrastructure. That’s a big concern to everyone we’ve talked with and seen. We’re seeing huge accidents all the time, particularily on that nasty stretch between 10 Mile Lake and Cinema.”

Clare will be hosting a ‘town hall’ meeting on January 17 at the Quesnel Seniors’ Centre to discuss the regional transportation issues as well as the North — South Connector. Langley — Abbotsford MLA Harman Bhangu, Transportation Shadow Minister will be a guest at the meeting.

The MLA’s office assures that it will be keeping regular office hours in the City Hall on Tuesdays to Fridays. Open to drop in appointments. Mondays are appointment only.

“We’re glad that we have this facility, it’s a good solid office, and we appreciate the support from the City of Quesnel on getting it going. I’m looking forward to working out of it, and getting things done.”
