Serving Up Plenty Of Christmas Joy In Williams Lake

Dreams really do come true and did this (Wednesday) morning in Williams Lake.

The Child Development Centre’s 19th annual Christmas Wish Breakfast was held at Boston Pizza and Executive Director Vanessa Riplinger says it was an amazing event.

Riplinger said they served 951 meals and collected an incredible amount of donations.

We received about 1420 toys and $5,679 in cash and all that will be given out tomorrow (Thursday) to Agencies and we will be restocking our toys with the money that we collected. We’ve already recognized that we will buying gifts for the 6 to 8 years old range and well as for the youth.”

We asked Riplinger if the other Agencies and Groups this Christmas Wish Breakfast helps to support provides the CDC with an advanced list of what they may need.

We kind of recognize that if it is going to be a busier year for us it will be busy for them as well. We know that if our programs are seeing that families may struggle to get some presents under the tree we know that other Agencies in the community will also be seeing that with the families they serve so that’s an indicator for us and we’ve seen that this year.”

Riplinger noted that they’ve already called the Agencies that will be receiving these donations setting up times for them come in and pickup them up and should have everything given away by 4 o’clock Friday afternoon.

I want to thank the community of Williams Lake and surrounding area. This is an amazing event for everyone and I’m so privileged to be a part of it and I want to thank everybody who attended it and I really enjoyed seeing everyone today.”

The KIJHL has announced the regular schedule and home openers for the 2025/2026 season. The regular season starts on September 19, and each team will compete in 44 games during the regular season, which concludes on February 28, 2026.

Accident on Highway 97 On Ramp Closed Section Briefly

A single vehicle merging onto Highway 97 Northbound in Quesnel, hit a traffic pole. Police and the Quesnel Volunteer Fire Department closed the ramp down as the accident was assessed. Only the driver of the vehicle was taken to the hospital with suspected minor injuires.
