Williams Lake RCMP Reopening Western Avenue At Carson Drive

**Update**

The ongoing Police operation that began earlier today at a location on Western Avenue in Williams Lake has ended.
Williams Lake Sargeant Brad Mckinnon said they are reopening the area which he hopes to have done this hour (by 4 pm).
McKinnon said the investigation is ongoing and confirmed that there are no concerns for public safety in that area at this time.

Sargeant Brad Mckinnon confirmed that they have an ongoing Police operation at a location on Western Avenue.

“I can confirm that the situation is currently contained while we actively work to safely resolve the situation.”

Mckinnon is asking members of the public to avoid the area whether they’re in their vehicles and anyone who may be walking or riding their bikes.

“And as soon as the situation has been safely resolved we will update members of the public accordingly,” Mckinnon said.

A wildfire believed to have been caused by a lightning strike has been spotted in the Quesnel Highland near Jack of Clubs Lake in the District of Wells. The fire is 1.5 hectares in size.

Logging Truck Catches Fire on Garner Road West of Quesnel

A logging truck caught fire while traveling down Garner Road, west of Quesnel during the afternoon of July 31. The cause of the fire is unknown at this time, and the driver is uninjured. The Incident Commander of the West Fraser Volunteer Fire Department says, the situation could have been a lot worse.
