Charges laid against suspect accused of fleeing from police in Quesnel

Charges have now been laid against a man accused of fleeing from police in Quesnel before crashing into a civilian vehicle.

30-year old Christopher Mcdonagh is facing one count each of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, flight from police, driving while disqualified, and driving while prohibited.

He remains in custody and is due back in court next Wednesday.

Quesnel RCMP responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle in the Spears Road and Heinzelman Road area at around 9 o’clock on Wednesday night.

Police attempted to conduct a traffic stop but the suspect vehicle fled the scene at a high rate of speed.

Another attempt was made to stop the vehicle near Northstar Road and Highway 97 but it managed to avoid the road block and flee the scene again.

RCMP say the suspect vehicle then collided with a civilian vehicle on the highway near Maple Drive.

A man was arrested after a brief foot pursuit.

The driver of the civilian vehicle was taken to hospital with minor injuries.
