School in Quesnel locked down after report of a man with a gun

Quesnel RCMP say they received a report at around 8-30 this (Friday) morning that a student had seen a man near the school grounds that may have had a firearm.
Sergeant Clay Kronebusch says that the schools then made sure that the students were safe.
“Lakeview Elementary School was placed in lockdown and Quesnel Junior Secondary was placed on a hold and secure due to the proximity to Lakeview.”
Kronebusch says police investigated and it was determined that there was no threat.
“Police attended the area and conducted an extensive search of the areas surrounding both schools and were unable to locate anyone in the area.”
Kronebusch says “these types of complaints at a school are always concerning for everyone involved.  Thanks to the quick response from the school’s staff for their diligence in locking down the school to ensure the safety of students while police responded.”
Kronebusch says RCMP are now confident that there is no threat.
