Barkerville Heritage Trust is looking for a new CEO

The Barkerville Heritage Trust announced today (Wed) that Kate Cox is moving on to the work for the province and the Archaeology Branch in the Ministry of Forests.
Cox has been the CEO since 2020 and is credited with managing the historic town through unprecedented natural and weather events, specifically the COVID-19 pandemic, flooding and wildfires.
It says as a result of her leadership, Barkerville is well prepared for its future as the premier Provincial Historic Site and provider of education and tourism in central BC, the Cariboo-Chilcotin and Fraser Fort George regions.
Al Richmond, Chair of Barkerville Trust, says “we recognize that Kate carried the burden of being a change agent for the good of Barkerville, and we thank her for establishing important operational benchmarks and her tireless commitment to best business and governance practices.”
Cox received provincial recognition for her successful hard work regarding tourism and business, with the 2023 BC Tourism and Hospitality Award for Businesswoman of the Year.
The Trust says a search for her successor will get underway shortly, with an anticipated hiring date of late spring in 2025.
