Williams Lake stabbing suspect pleads guilty to lesser charge

One of two people charged in connection with a stabbing incident in Williams Lake has pleaded guilty in provincial court.

34-year old Daniel Cahoose, originally charged with aggravated assault, has pleaded guilty to the lesser charge of assault and is due back in court on September 11th to fix a date for sentencing.

51-year old Laura Taylor, who is also charged in connection with this incident, has been ordered to stand trial and is due back in Supreme Court on February 12th of next year for a Pre-Trial Conference.

Williams Lake RCMP were called to a motel on 7th avenue back on May 17th of last year.

Police said at the time that they were responding to a report that a person had been stabbed multiple times.

RCMP say a victim was taken to hospital and was in stable condition.

Two people were quickly identified as suspects at a home on 2nd Avenue.

The Emergency Response Team and Police Dog Services were called in for assistance and after several hours two people were taken into custody.
