Update: Highway 24 West Of Little Fort Has Re-opened

One life was claimed in a two vehicle collision that happened earlier this morning (Monday) on Highway 24.

Police said they received a report at 7:30 am regarding the incident near Eagle Island Road in Lac Des Roche.

Members of 100 Mile House RCMP and Clearwater RCMP along with EHS and CVSE attended the scene.

“Preliminary investigation suggests that a semi tractor trailer unit which was travelling west and a passenger car travelling east on Highway 24 collided head on.” Sargent Brian Lamb stated in a release. “The driver and sole occupant of the passenger vehicle was declared deceased at the scene. The driver of the semi truck was not injured.”

Highway 24 was closed in both directions while a scene investigation was was completed with the assistance of the Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Services from Kamloops.

The cause of the incident remains under investigation and Police is asking anyone who may have witnessed this, has dash cam footage, or any information to call the 100 Mile House RCMP.

Drive BC is reporting Highway 24 is closed in both directions due to a motor vehicle incident West of Little Fort between Eagle Island Road and Eakin Creek Road.
Assessment is in progress and a detour is not available at this time.
Drive BC says the next update will be at 4 o’clock this afternoon.
