Man accused of robbing and assaulting a resident in 100 Mile House is facing charges

Charges have now been laid in connection with a break-in in 100 Mile House where one of a the residents was allegedly assaulted.

Derek James Swindells is facing one count each of robbery, disguising his face with intent to commit and indictable offence, break and enter, and breach of an undertaking and breach of a release order.

The charges are in connection with an incident at a residence on Canim Lake Road South back on August 14th.

100 Mile House RCMP say an occupant told them that they awoke at around 2:20 a.m. and was assaulted.

Police say the suspect left and a second occupant then called them.

With the assistance of RCMP police dog services from Kamloops, Forensic Identification Services from Williams Lake, and the Cariboo Chilcotin Crime Reduction Unit, a search warrant was conducted at a nearby residence.

Police say several firearms and other property that were believed to have been taken were recovered, and a male suspect was arrested.
