Bomb threat at PG Courthouse deemed false by RCMP

Updated 12:08 pm, Tuesday, July 30th:

The Prince George RCMP have concluded their search of the Prince George Courthouse, and have determined the bomb threat to be false.

“Police officers will be allowing people back into the downtown area, the Courthouse and the surrounding businesses,” said Cpl. Jennifer Cooper.

“We thank everyone for their cooperation in staying away from downtown while we conducted our investigation.”

Cooper said the investigation is ongoing, as Mounties work to determine who made the false call to the Courthouse this morning.

She adds there will be no further updates.

Original Story:

The Prince George RCMP are asking the public to stay out of the downtown area as they’re investigating a potential bomb threat at the Courthouse on George Street.

“Multiple roads are blocked off between Third Avenue and Second Avenue and between George Street and Queensway,” said Cpl. Jennifer Cooper.

“Please obey police officers as they redirect all pedestrian and vehicle traffic away from that area.”

According to police, the courthouse has been evacuated.

More updates will come as they become available.
