Fire Chief Jeff Lefebvre says “somebody had pushed a truck over an embankment and either lit up while it was over the embankment, or they lit it up before. We’re not sure.”

Lefebvre says the fire did spread.

“Basically by the time we got there, the fire was knocked down, it had knocked itself down by then. But it had burnt about 8 big trees around it. Luckily it had been raining the day before so it was wet around there. Our concern was just making sure that all the way around the truck was out as well, so we took extra time just to make sure that nothing was into the root system or anything, and we extinguished the rest of the truck.”

Lefebvre says it was called in by a neighbour that had smelled smoke.

He says they had four members and their engine on scene for about an hour.

Lefebvre says RCMP were also on scene as the fire was suspicious in nature.

Police have confirmed that the vehicle was stolen that morning from a residence on Wilkinson Street in West Quesnel.
