5 Parcels in The Bowron Lake Park Area Under An Evacuation Order

This afternoon (July 22) at 3:30 an Evacuation Order was issued by the Cariboo Regional District Emergency operations Centre for five parcels in the Bowron Lake Park Area.

The order covers 128,637 hectares and the CRD said due to immediate danger to life safety due to fire, members of the RCMP or other groups will be expediting this action and you must leave the area immediately.

CRD Communications Manager Gerald Pinchbeck said this new Order is for the East part of the Bowron Lakes Park.

“Our understanding is that there aren’t any residents living inside that area, however there are visitors in the Park which we have coordinated by BC Parks to get out of that Park. BC Park is leading the Evacuation of those people. They’ll be portaging and leaving in their watercraft they brought with them pending further developments over in Bowron Lakes,” Pinchbeck said.

The Evacuation route is Bowron Lake Road to Highway 26 to Quesnel.

The Cariboo Regional District said the Emergency Service Centre is located at the Quesnel and District Arts and Recreation Centre, 500 North Star Road.
