Environment Canada has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch for Williams Lake and Quesnel.
Meteorologist Lisa Erven said conditions today (July 19) are favourable for the development of thunderstorms and explained what that may bring.
“So the main threats we could see from these thunderstorms that develop throughout the day would be wind gusts up to 90 kilometres per hour, two centimetre hail, and localized heavy downpours of up to 20 millimetres of rain.”
Erven said the Severe Thunderstorm Watch will remain in effect until 10 tonight until the system moves Northwards.
“Once we get through today the ridge is going to rebuild and with that we are going to see our temperatures slowly climbing over the next few days with peak temperatures expected on Sunday which we could see more daily temperature records fall,” Erven noted.
