Former Quesnel Junior School site remains vacant four years after demolition

  The old Quesnel Junior School was demolished back in May of 2020 but the now vacant land still sits idle.
   Jen Woollends, Secretary-Treasurer with the Quesnel School District, confirms that the District still has a long term lease on the property.
   The Ministry of Forests, in an e-mail response, says the site is being returned to the province and longer-term planning continues.
   It adds that more information will be shared when it’s available.
   This property has been identified as a critical piece of property for future development in the downtown core
   Construction on a new junior school at the old Maple Drive Junior Secondary School site on Mountain Ash Road in the Red Bluff area began in 2021, and it opened in September of 2022.
