Cariboo Regional District reminds communities of watering restrictions

The Cariboo Regional District water systems are seeing a higher than normal demand.

It said overuse could potentially lead to no water, which could impact the water quality and ability for emergency crews to fight structure fires or wildfires.

Water sprinkling restrictions are in effect for all CRD water systems from May 1st, to October 1st each year, and enforcement may occur for those not adhering to the restrictions.

The water systems under the restrictions include:

  • Alexis Creek/Central Alexis Creek
  • Canim Lake
  • Forest Grove
  • Horse Lake
  • Lac La Hache
  • Russet Bluff
  • 108 Mile
  • Gateway
  • 103 Mile
  • Lexington
  • Benjamin

The CRD does give some watering tips including watering the lawn when necessary, deep soak lawns when watering, and avoid using a hose when cleaning driveways and cars, along with use for play for kids and sprinklers.

More information about the restrictions including times and homes, as well as other water saving tips can be found on the Cariboo Regional District website here.
