The District of 100 Mile House is closing in on beginning the replacement work for Horse Lake Bridge.
They said with the concerns regarding the condition and replacement timing of the bridge, Mayor Maureen Pinkney has been working with the Minister of Municipal Affairs to expedite the archaeological permits to allow construction.
The project necessitates proper permits for the installation of both a temporary bridge and the full replacement bridge, which the District said are in the final stages of acquiring.
$1,748,000 million in funding was given to the District in February 2022, through the Ministry of Transportation’s Rural and Northern Communities Program, with $2,952,000 collected from the Municipal Reserve accounts.
The initial estimated cost for the project is $4,700,000.
Mayor and Council thank residents for their patience and understanding as work continues to complete the project.
