A motor vehicle collision on Highway 97 near Canim Hendrix Lake Road resulted in over 3 thousand people without power earlier this morning (July 16).
100 Mile House RCMP Sargeant Brian Lamb said the driver of the mini van, who was not injured, reported that the vehicle had lost its brakes and then started on fire.
The driver jumped out and the vehicle proceeded to go into the ditch striking a utility pole.
Lamb said a hydro wire broke as a result and came down striking two other vehicles causing damage to each.
“There were no injuries to any of the occupants and the fire was quickly extinguished before it could spread beyond the proximity of the vehicle,” Lamb said.
BC Hydro was called to the scene and power was restored by 12:45 this (Tuesday) afternoon.
