BC Wildfire Service is continuing action on different wildfires in the north east Cariboo.
The Cornish Mountain wildfire has seen minimal fire behaviour, sitting at 70 hectares, as heavy equipment pushing from the northern flank, and working on the east and west flanks to the south.
Fire Information Officer, Jessica Mack says ground crews are also on site establishing water delivery systems, and conducting danger tree assessments.
“We do now have structure protection personnel that are on site, and they’re doing some assessments for if sprinkler systems are needed, and will remove any sort of combustible material near structures where appropriate.” says Mack.
“Right now, they’re jus in the initial triaging and assessment phase of that.”
Mack says they have 52 personnel working on the fire, along with ten pieces of heavy equipment and aerial resources.
The 85 hectare wildfire, south of Barkerville, has ground personnel on site developing a suppression plan.
Crews are also working with The Bowron Lake Parkland managers, monitoring and conducting assessments on the 56 hectare fire, and have no active resources for the fire.
There are currently 20 wildfires in the north east portion of the region, with 18 out of control, one under control, and one being held.
