26 wildfires remain in the north eastern portion of the Cariboo Fire Centre region.
No new wildfires have been found as of yet since last night, however the 70 hectare fire at Cornish Mountain, north of Wells, has seen minimal growth.
Fire Information Officer, Jessica Mack says there has been little fire activity in the morning as they work to suppress the fire.
“We do expect that later in the day as we see daytime heating that fire activity will increase, and we do have support from aircraft including helicopters and skippers.” says Mack.
“We do have 52 firefighters that are actively working on that incident, with the support of six pieces of heavy equipment.”
Mack says the wildfire in Bowron Lake, which is 56 hectares in size, has a modified response, and is a monitor only response plan in place.
The third fire south east of Barkerville that’s at 82 hectares have no active resources so far, but there are no threats to any infrastructures or communities.
The three wildfires are out of control.
Mack says the priority is to utilize air patrol to detect any new wildfires as a result of the lightning on July 9th, and be prepared to respond to any new incidents.
Additional resources are being brought in from outside the Cariboo to help with response efforts.
So far 20 wildfires are out of control, with two classified as being held, and three under control.
More information about the wildfires can be found on the BC Wildfire Service website here.
