Quesnel fire fighters wake up to unnecessary early morning call

The Quesnel Volunteer Fire Department was called out to an early morning nuisance fire.

Fire Chief Ron Richert says it was downtown in a pullout across from the old Shaw Building.

“Approximately 1-30 a.m. Quesnel Fire Department was dispatched to a, it came across as a car fire off of Front Street. Upon arrival, it was not a vehicle, it was a mobile shelving unit with tires that was set a blaze. An Engine crew responded and extinguished the fire.”

Richert says they were on scene for about 20 minutes.

He says there were also remnants of clothing and electronic equipment.

Richert says there were no people around.
