Kootenay International Junior Hockey League realigns divisions this upcoming season

The Kootenay International Junior Hockey League’s (KIJHL) divisions have been restructured for the upcoming season.

This comes after the league’s Annual General Meeting back on June 22nd, where they went over the Okanagan-Shuswap conference realignment, as the Williams Lake Mustangs, the Quesnel River Rush, and the Merritt Centennials join the league.

Both the Mustangs and the River Rush will join the Doug Birks division, joining the 100 Mile House Wranglers, Kamloops Storm, and Chase Heat.

Along with the division changes, the 2024/25 schedule was also released, with the regular season beginning on September 20th.

All three Cariboo teams will play their home opener on the regular season start date, as the Wranglers will take on the Osoyoos Coyotes, the River Rush against the Centennials, and the Mustangs will play the Sicamous Eagles.

Teams will play a total of 44 games, with the regular season scheduled to end February 22nd, 2025, and the 2025 Teck Cup beginning on February 28th.

More information about the divisions and schedule can be found on the KIJHL’s website here.
