Co-accused in Quesnel armed robbery case pleads guilty to gun related charges

One of two men charged in connection with an armed robbery investigation in Quesnel has pleaded guilty to three of the four charges against him.

35-year old Robert Hovestad pled guilty to one count each of possession of a firearm contrary to an order, occupying a vehicle knowing a firearm was present, and to possession of a firearm contrary to an order.

He’s due back in court on August 13th.

Quesnel RCMP say they were called to the west end of the foot bridge on North Fraser Drive back in the early morning hours of September 13th for a report of an armed robbery.

Police say the victim told them that he was attacked by three men with guns and batons, and that they assaulted him and took his wallet and backpack.

A suspect vehicle was located with three people in it.

RCMP say the suspects were in possession of a sawed-off shotgun and a prohibited handgun.

35-year old Jade Bennett is also charged in connection with this case and is due back in court on July 9th.
