Road paving to cause delays in Williams Lake next week

City staff will begin paving various roads in different parts of Williams Lake starting next week.

The roads expected to be affected include Oliver Street, 7th Avenue South, Midnight Drive, Latin Avenue, Beauchamp Crescent, Eagle Crescent, Crosina Crescent, Ridgeview Place and Ridgewood Place.

Senior Engineering Technologist, Jeff Bernardy says no road has a set start date.

“The actual date of each road is a little dependent on the contractors immediate needs, and they kind of schedule it according to the most efficient way for them.” says Bernardy.

“My understanding is that Oliver Street and 7th Avenue South are near the top of the scheduling priority list, and will probably be the first ones out of the gate.”

Bernardy added that road users should watch for workers, signage and follow instructions, as there could be delays, interruptions, and detours.

Between the mill and the paving, he says the work will take a couple weeks to get cleaned up.

Bernardy says the City appreciates the public’s efforts in making sure the paving goes smoothly every year and keep safety as a top priority.
