Quesnel Community Foundation has a new leader

The Quesnel Community Foundation has a new President and a rapidly growing endowment fund.

Graham Armstrong became the new President after the organization’s AGM.

“I’m excited. I think we’re kind of at a new place with the Foundation and growing rapidly, so it’s exciting.”

He takes over from Bob Salmons.

Armstrong says the Foundation is in a good place right now.

“The endowment is now sitting at about 4.9 million dollars. It started with a 50 thousand dollar grant from the BC Winter Games and also a grant from the City of Quesnel, and over these 20 some years it has grown rapidly.”

Armstrong says they raised about 39 thousand dollars at this year’s Gala.

He says they gave out around 150 thousand dollars in grants and 28 thousand dollars in scholarships this year, and that number could go up next year as the endowment grows.

Armstrong calls the Foundation a success story of Quesnel, adding that they have had great community involvement and support over the years.
