Preliminary Inquiry set for man charged in shooting incident in Williams Lake

A Preliminary Inquiry has been set for a 37-man who is charged in connection with a shots fired case in Williams Lake.

Curtis Joseph Paul is due back in court on September 26th.

Paul is facing several charges, including possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose, occupying a vehicle knowing that a firearm is present, flight from police, and dangerous driving.

Police were called to a residence on Mackenzie Avenue back in December of 2023 for a report of a man discharging a firearm in the direction of a person at the house.

The suspect was then accused of fleeing the scene in a pickup truck.

While at the residence, RCMP say they received multiple calls of an erratic driver in different parts of the city, and that a person also reported that the driver pointed a firearm at them.

Police say a suspect was eventually taken into custody with the aid of a spike belt.

RCMP say a search of the vehicle also revealed a loaded firearm.
