Strike Notice served at Gibralter Mine

Unionized workers at Gibralter Mine have served 72-hour strike notice.

Members of UNIFOR Local 3018 voted 98 percent in favour of strike action if needed back at the end of April and served notice at 11:41 this (Tuesday) morning.

That means that the union will be in a legal strike position on Saturday, June 1st.

Bargaining continues in the meantime.

The current deal expires on May 31st.

The union represents around 550 workers at the mine, which is located near McLeese Lake.
