Both Cariboo Wildfires Under Control

The status of the Burgess Creek wildfire, approximately 20 kilometres East of Alexandria, 45 kilometres Southeast of Quesnel and 50 kilometres North of Williams Lake has changed.

Fire Information Officer at the Cariboo Fire Centre, Madison Dahl said it’s now under control and remains at about 1800 hectares in size.

We don’t have crews on on site consistently, what we are doing is scanning the wildfire for any remaining hot spots or signs of heat and sending out crews when required to action those individual spots.”

Dahl said the recent weather has been helpful in decreasing the fire behavior helping BC Wildfire Service crews get it under control.

The other wildfire in the region South of Alexis Creek remains at 133 hectares in size and Dahl noted is also under control.
