MSP changes panned by Canadian Taxpayers Federation

The Canadian Taxpayers Federation is panning the B.C. government’s changes to the Medical Service Plan Premiums yesterday.

B.C. Director, Jordan Bateman says he couldn’t be more offended by the move.

“This is Mike De Jong smearing lipstick all over the MSP pig and pretending somehow we are going to save money when the vast majority of families will pay more next year with the province taking an additional $124 million dollars from taxpayers.”

“I have three kids so you would think I would be saving a lot of money with this kids eat free gimmick but premiums will go up six bucks next year while a couple without children making $45,000 a year will pay 20 dollars more a month.”

Children are now exempt according to the provincial budget with assistance now kicking in at $42,000 a year instead of $30,000.

For everyone else, rates will rise $3 per month.
