Williams Lake man sentenced for manslaughter

Five years in prison and a 10 year firearms prohibition.

That was the sentenced handed down to a Williams Lake man for manslaughter in Supreme Court in Vancouver.

That means that, minus the time already served while in custody, 36-year old Kurtis Billy will spend another 875 days behind bars.

He was originally charged with second degree murder but pleaded guilty to the lesser charge.

Williams Lake RCMP were called to the Crestwood Apartments on Carson Drive for a disturbance back on January 22, 2022.

Upon arrival, police discovered the body of a deceased adult male.
