Trial date set for man facing numerous charges in the Alexis Creek area

A man facing numerous charges in connection with incidents in the Alexis Creek area is scheduled to go to trial in the fall.

42-year old Cassidy Baron Billy is due back in court in Williams Lake on September 23rd.

He’s charged with theft of a vehicle, uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, failing to stop for police and resisting arrest.

Williams Lake RCMP responded to a report of a stolen vehicle back on February 9th at around 10 o’clock that night.

Police say they then received a report the following day of a man going into a residence and making death threats.

RCMP were also advised of a structure fire on the west side of the Anaham Reserve, and while they were responding to it there was a second fire at a church on the east side of the reserve.

The stolen vehicle was then located parked in front of a residence.

RCMP say it attempted to leave and struck a police vehicle before going down an embankment and rolling onto its roof.

Police say the driver then attempted to flee on foot but was arrested with the use of a Conducted Energy Weapon.

The suspect appeared to be uninjured but was taken to hospital as a precaution.
