Williams Lake Volunteer To Be Recognized For Their Efforts And Dedication

20 British Columbian’s will be receiving the 2024 Community Award including one from the Cariboo.

Robin Dawes from the Lake City was chosen for her contributions to the Williams Lake Cross Country Ski Club.

In a release the BC Achievement Foundation stated that Dawes played a role in securing funding, designing, and supervising the construction of a new state-of-the-art lodge facility.

Dawes gives over 500 volunteer hours annually and has led the ski school program that has seen substantial growth and includes hundreds of children participating each year.

“Robin’s establishment of a ski rental program has significantly lowered barriers to entry for the wider community.” the released stated, “Through her efforts, funding was secured, equipment purchased, and volunteers coordinated to ensure the program’s success. Robin Dawes’s efforts have revitalized the Williams Lake Cross Country Ski Club, leaving a legacy that ensures future generations can enjoy the benefits of a thriving ski community.”

The Community Award recognizes the contributions of extraordinary British Columbians who build better, stronger, more resilient communities through volunteer or work efforts, dedication and service.

Dawes and the other 19 recipients will be recognized in a formal presentation ceremony to be held in Victoria on Wednesday May 8th.
