Cariboo region expected to see some much needed rain this weekend

Much needed rain is forecast for the Cariboo region for the weekend and into early next week.

An unsettled weather pattern will be over the region that will bring off and on showers in the afternoons, with cooler temperatures in the evenings.

Meteorologist, Ross Macdonald explains how much rain the region could see by Monday.

“With these showers kind of off and on, we’ll be in the area of maybe five millimetres today (April 27), five millimetres tomorrow, and perhaps even a few millimetres on Monday.” says Macdonald.

“All in all, we could see in the neighbourhood of maybe 10 to 20 millimetres of rainfall by the time we reach late Monday.”

Macdonald adds there will be a potential of thunderstorms, but notes that it won’t be severe, with those areas potentially seeing a more intense downpour.

He says the overnight lows could see some rain mix with flurries, and specifically mentions Sunday night being the most likely time.

The rain doesn’t seem to be a sneak peak into upcoming weather, as mid next week will return to sunny and dry weather.

More information on the weather forecast can be found on Environment Canada’s website here.
