Shots fired at home near Wildwood

Williams Lake has a gang-related conflict problem according to RCMP.

Staff/Sgt. Del Byron says shots fired Tuesday night at a home on the 4000 block of Pacific Road in the nearby community of Wildwood is the latest ongoing conflict between members of the Indian Outlaws and 712.

Williams Lake RCMP responded to the report at approximately 11:53 pm and once on scene located evidence consistent with four to five shots fired at the home.

The suspects were reported to have fled in a dark-colored SUV.

Byron says the shooting is directly related to another shooting which took place in Williams Lake on Jan. 2 on Mackenzie Avenue, as well as a high-speed car chase shooting on Western Avenue in June 2015.

He says the incident in Wildwood is even more so concerning because three innocent young children were inside the home.

Byron says RCMP are actively doing a lot of different things to try and alleviate the conflicts including pursuing all investigative avenues and engaging the public even meeting with Chiefs of the Tsilhqot’in First Nation on Monday to develop strategies.

There are at least 10 known members in Williams Lake belonging to each of the gangs.

Anyone with further information is asked to contact Williams Lake RCMP or Crimestoppers.
